Along side this deep dive into Pilates, I began practicing the ancient movement art of Qigong- in conjunction with training in acupressure, medicinal herbalism, and Chinese medicine. While this practice served initially as a means of my own self-care, I pursued training to share this invaluable work with my students.
Of all my revered teachers, most profound lessons have come from living with stage IV metatatic breast cancer. The resilience and perspectives derived from the cancer experience infuses my work with a deep gratitude for the body and an illuminated meaning of vitality.
With a strong background in musculoskeletal and fascial anatomy along with eastern body-mind modalities, I view each individual body through a holistic lens. I believes the spirit of any movement system lies in the understanding of the person rather than the exercise.
In additional to my Pilates certification through National Pilates Certification Program, I am certified in both White Tiger Qigong and Mantak Chia’s Universal Healing Tao. I am a CETI certified Cancer Exercise Specialist and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biocultural Anthropology, with a focus on human evolution and health.
I have often been asked why I chose to pursue Anthropology when my background has been in anatomy and complementary medicine. I believe that in order to pioneer the leading edge of optimal well-being, we must investigate the spectrum of human perspectives…
“By looking to the past and to the ways different cultures throughout history have viewed health and fulfillment, we can examine the evolution of human form and embody what it means to live at our potential”.
